F1 legend David Coulthard collaborated with us to create a whisky that would enable him to give something back to Dumfries and Galloway – the region and the people who supported him from his earliest days behind the wheel. As a token of his appreciation, a percentage of the proceeds from Saltire Edition 2 goes to local charities and communities in the place where David grew up.
The packaging design is inspired by Scotland’s national flag – displayed proudly by David on his F1 crash helmets and cars, throughout his career.
Released in 2019, this 13 Year Old special release has been shaped using almost equal quantities of first-fill sherry seasoned European oak, American oak and refill casks plus a small number of ex-bourbon casks. This influence of this cask combination is a single malt displaying lavish notes of caramelised mango and sun-kissed lemons, root ginger and silky vanilla, and of course, our characteristic peat smoke.

Colour
Deep amber with coppery highlights and a honey-gold, sunlit glow.
Nose
Inviting coastal aroma of caramelised mango and sun-kissed lemon, lifted by ginger warmth and silky vanilla. A touch of sherry-cask sweetness envelops the bouquet, while soft peat smoke threads through, with polished oak from first-fill European and American casks adding depth.
Palate
Silky, mouth-coating and balanced. Caramelised mango and sun-kissed lemon lead, tempered by vanilla cream and a ginger warmth. Sherry-driven oak and hints of bourbon sweetness add depth, while Highland Park’s peat delivers a refined coastal smoke that threads through to a long, lightly salted, resinous finish.
Finish
An elongated, luxurious finish where peat smoke lingers softly, mingling with caramelised mango and sun-kissed lemon. Subtle root-ginger spice warms the palate as silky vanilla and sherry sweetness thread through the oak, slowly fading to a refined, smoky echo that invites another sip.
