Tasting Notes

Colour

Pale straw gold with a delicate green-gold sheen, bright and translucent.

Nose

Bright pink grapefruit and juicy galia melon open to green tropical fruit, with cucumber coolness and a bright mint lift. Hints of summery barley fields add a pastoral, sun-drenched freshness that feels crisp, poised, and inviting.

Palate

Clean and crisp on the palate, bright citrus and melon mingle with cool cucumber, a touch of ginger spice, then green apple and dried apricot.

Finish

Crisp and wine-like, with gooseberry, tangy lime curd and white pepper marking the finish.

Hakushu
(hah-koo-SHOO) Hakushu was founded in 1973 by Keizo Saji as Suntory’s second malt whisky distillery, built deep in the forests of the Southern Japanese Alps to mark 50 years since the founding of Japanese whisky. Created to produce a style distinct from Yamazaki, it was established in Yamanashi for its exceptionally soft mountain water and cool, misty climate, and has since become one of the defining names in Japanese single malt.
