Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper-gold highlights and a tawny mahogany edge.
Nose
Intense, sherried aroma of dark fruits—blackberry, plum, cherry—woven with fig and raisin. Caramel, toffee and vanilla cloak rich oak, while cocoa, polished leather and espresso add depth. A touch of spice—cinnamon and clove—unfolds to a whisper of smoke and almond nuttiness, signature of this cask-strength 1977 single malt.
Palate
Powerful cask-strength palate from the silent Glenugie: a tapestry of dense dark fruit—fig, raisin, plum—coated in sherry sweetness, cocoa and toasted almond. Spices bloom, with cinnamon and clove mingling with ripe oak. At 57.2% ABV, warmth lingers into a long, peppery, elegantly refined finish.
Finish
Long and opulent, the finish coats the palate with sherried richness—ripe fig and raisin, cocoa nibs and caramel, balanced by warm oak and a sly peppery kiss that lingers well after the sip.
