From Diageos 2013 Special Release series comes a very rare 36 year old from the Convalmore distillery which ceased production back in 1985. This is a rare appearance for Convalmore as there is very little stock left from this distillery.

Matured in Refill European Oak casks that were filled in 1977. This was a limited release of 2,680 bottles which were bottled at a cask strength of 58% ABV.

This is a sweet, succulent and very subtle whisky with a big, rich velvety texture that wears its age beutifully. This has developed a wonderful complexity over its time ageing.

(Conval-Mor) Convalmore was founded in 1893 in Dufftown and was the fourth of the town’s “Seven Stills”. It was built during the late Victorian whisky boom, but the original company did not last long, with ownership passing first to W.P. Lowrie and then to James Buchanan. That connection to Buchanan was important to the distillery’s working life, as Convalmore spent most of its years producing malt for blends rather than building a large single malt identity of its own.
