Distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2022, this 25-year-old Glenrothes was released by Wemyss Malts as part of their single cask range. Matured in a hogshead, the cask yielded 152 bottles, bottled at 45.4% ABV. As with other Wemyss releases, the name “The Banquet” reflects the character and flavour profile discovered in the cask.
Glenrothes Distillery, founded in 1879 in Rothes, is known for producing a rich and elegant Speyside spirit, often showing layers of orchard fruit, spice and gentle sweetness that develop beautifully with long maturation. Extended ageing in traditional oak casks allows the distillery’s naturally rounded character to gain depth and complexity over time.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Golden-amber with a warm honey glow and a subtle bronze edge.
Nose
Lemon toffee sweets open with a sea-sprayed mint freshness, while honey-coated salted nuts add warmth to the nose. Subtle bergamot candle wax threads through, imparting a citrus lift that lingers with refined grace.
Palate
Spun-sugar tuile biscuit filled with rich red fruits, topped with chopped mint. With a splash of water, red and pink peppercorns emerge with yoghurt-coated red fruits and strawberry-and-cream sweets.
Finish
Long and smooth, the finish unfolds slowly, leaving a warm, dissipating whisper of exotic wood spice.
