Glenrothes Distillery, founded in 1879 in the Speyside town of Rothes, is known for producing a rich and elegant style of malt, often characterised by orchard fruit, warming spice and subtle sherry influence. Long maturation in sherry casks can bring out deeper notes of dried fruit, polished wood and gentle sweetness, creating a complex and mature profile.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery mahogany highlights and a warm, honeyed glow.
Nose
Deep sherry influence yields a rich, antique bouquet: dark cherry and currants with ginger cake spice. Earthy undercurrents give way to polished wood as patchouli and sandalwood oil emerge and linger, evolving gracefully with time in the glass.
Palate
Layers of evolving flavour unfold with every sip: orange oil gives way to stewed red berries, sweetened rye bread and caraway, lifted by hints of heather. Rich wood and sherry depth weave through, delivering a polished, warm palate that deepens with time.
Finish
Long and lingering, the finish coats with dark fruit richness—cherry and currant—while cigar-tobacco tannins ebb slowly, leaving a warm, polished wood embrace and a final kiss of spice.
