Glenrothes Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 29 Year Old · 1974 Vintage
Out of stock
When the Magazine "The Wine Enthusiast" ran a tasting of the 50 Best Spirits of 2004, The Glenrothes Vintage 1974, bottled in 2003, got the highest mark of them all (a trifling 96 out of 100).
Martine Nouet, who writes for the enlightenment of all who read Whisky Magazine wrote this about the 1974: "Like being at a baker's or in a confectionary shop. Elegant, comforting, conversational. Indoors summer dram."
Featured in the book 1001 whiskies you must try before you die book.
An old whisky that has none of the overoaked quality of some beyond 25 years old, classic Glenrothes mellow house style but with more fruit, a richer, juicier mouthfeel and more luxurious finish.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber gold with sunlit copper highlights and a warm honey glow.
Nose
Leather seats in an antique luxury car mingle with nut brittle and rich old-fashioned toffee. Aromatic floral and spice notes lift creamy oak, while a malty honey on malt loaf grounds the aroma, completed by a subtle hint of smoked honeycomb.
Palate
Big malty sweetness coats the palate with juicy depth, easing into dried fruit. Creamy oak wraps banana fudge and honeyed sultanas on toast, while delicate floral notes and aromatic spice linger, delivering a warm, luxurious finish.
Finish
Creamy vanilla fudge, juicy sherry soaked dried fruit, malty, floral honey.
