Fercullen The Estate Series #1 - The Mill House Amarone Cask Whiskey
In stock
Nestled close to Powerscourt House, the Mill House is found, with it's timeless Wicklow granite walls presenting layers to be discovered. Now lovingly restored and extended, it is home to the Powerscourt Distillery & Vistor Centre. In this release, the opening expression from "The Estate Series", we celebrate our spiritual home and add to that history of perseverance, endeavour and innovation for which the Powerscourt Mill House has become synonymous.
Distilled from corn and malt, this grain spirit was first matured in ex-bourbon barrels and finished in Amarone casks. Grain barrels from 2010,2011 and 2012 were skilfully blended in equal parts, creating the perfect harmony and balance from competing influences of Bourbon, Oak and Amarone in this mellow whisky.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper highlights and burnished mahogany edges, a warm, honeyed bronze that glows in the glass.
Nose
Vanilla and creamy toffee ride a warm oak spine, while Amarone finishes spill opulent dark fruit—raisin, fig and cherry—with cocoa and gentle spice. Subtle grain sweetness and almondy vanilla linger, delivering a silky, velvety aroma that speaks of Wicklow stone, heritage, and the Mill House’s refined craftsmanship.
Palate
Silky, creamy entry with a buttered caramel sweetness that unfurls into dark fruit complexity—raisin, fig and cherry—brightened by vanilla and toasted oak. The Amarone finish adds plush wine notes, a velvety warmth and a subtle tannic grace, guiding to a long, refined spice profile and lingering chocolatey echoes. Balanced, mellow and unexpectedly layered for a grain whiskey.
Finish
Long, luxurious and wine-kissed, the finish unfurls with ripe red fruit—cherry, plum and raisin—braided with dark chocolate and orange zest. Gentle tannins and spice provide warmth, leaving a velvety, lingering echo of oak and grain sweetness.
