Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep coppery amber with a sunlit glow and hints of mahogany at the rim.

Nose

A light mix of pineapple, kiwi, green banana and lime zest followed by Pot Still spices, baked apple, hazelnut and toasted wood.

Palate

A smooth mouthfeel reveals a subtle fruit core of pineapple, kiwi and green banana, with a hint of clove oil and cracked black pepper. Sweet spices, vanilla and cinnamon weave through the wood’s nutty, toasted note, delivering a warm, lingering finish.

Finish

Long, palate-coating finish that balances exotic fruits with warming spices. Subtle clove and cracked pepper linger, rounded by vanilla, cinnamon, and a kiss of toasted oak as the fruit notes gradually fade.

Blue Spot belongs to the historic Spot Whiskey family created by Dublin wine merchant and whiskey bonder Mitchell & Son. The Spot name comes from the practice of marking maturing casks with coloured paint to show their intended age: blue for 7 years, green for 10, yellow for 12 and red for 15. The range has its roots in the days when Mitchell & Son matured Jameson spirit from Bow Street in wine and fortified wine casks beneath Dublin.
