Aged in a combination of refill and rejuvinated American oak Hogsheads and European oak butts.

I have to admit to having a soft spot for Cragganmore as it was the first Single malt that made me sit up and take notice of whisky over 26 years ago! when tasting this i was almost transported back to that happy memory with that combination of a more waxy and herbal Speyside style and this is a great example of this Classic Malt, whatever the age!

Tasting Notes

Colour

Golden amber with a warm honey glow and a subtle coppery sheen.

Nose

Mandarin orange, beeswax, herbal honey, buttery biscuit, yeast bread dough, aniseed.

Palate

On the palate, orange fondant and shortbread mingle with herbal honey, ginger and white chocolate, framed by vanilla bon bons, salted marzipan and a peppery oak lift.

Finish

Tingling citrus lingers with waxy orange, herbal honey and mint leaf, finishing with aromatic tea and chocolate.

Cragganmore
(Crag-an-MOOR) Cragganmore was founded in 1869 by John Smith at Ballindalloch in Speyside. Smith had already worked at distilleries including The Glenlivet, Macallan, Glenfarclas and Wishaw before building Cragganmore, and the site was chosen with transport in mind: it became the first distillery in Speyside designed to take direct advantage of railway access. The name comes from the nearby craggy hill, Creag Mhòr.
