Compass Box The Spice Tree Blended Scotch Whisky (Banned Version)
Out of stock
The Spice Tree was first launched in 2005, but in 2006 the Scotch Whisky Association forced Compass Box to stop production. What was special about Spice Tree was the secondary maturation whisky was aged using 195 year old French oak staves which were inserted into the whisky barrels. The SWA decided that this non-traditional practice was not appropriate for the production of Scotch Whisky so compass box discontinued production until several years later when they managed through a new production method to release a new legal version. This is a rare bottle of the original now banned version.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with copper-bronze undertones and a burnished mahogany glow.
Nose
An opulent, spicy bouquet—warm vanilla, clove and cinnamon mingle with nutmeg, carried by French oak resin and toasted wood. Dried orange zest, fig and raisin sweetness weave through sherry notes, while sandalwood and cedar lend an elegant, perfumed depth. An age-warmed, luxurious spice profile that promises measured, layered complexity.
Palate
Opulent on the palate, a bold fusion of spice and oak. Rich vanilla and treacle weave with clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, and white pepper. Dried fig and orange zest add citrus-tinged fruit, while French oak lends warm rancio depth. Creamy, with a silky grip and a long, peppery finish that lingers with cocoa and spice.
Finish
Long, warming and elegantly spiced, with clove and nutmeg carried on a kiss of French oak. Subtle sherry sweetness lingers with almond and orange zest, yielding a refined, resinous finish that slowly coats the palate.
