Colour

Deep amber with coppery edges and a mahogany tint, a burnished, sunset-hued glow.

Nose

Briny sea spray with linen and camphor, lifted by a waxy Napoli lemon. Damson jam glints beneath citrus, while faint linseed oil lingers, adding a resinous, mineral brightness to the coastal aura.

Palate

Oat-like sweetness unfolds with honey and pine resin, then soft tobacco and toffee add warmth, while herbal notes thread through the palate to leave a lingering, refined finish.

Finish

Old oak warmth lingers into a long, graceful finish.

Caol Ila
(kowel-EEL-ah) Caol Ila was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson near Port Askaig on Islay’s east coast, overlooking the Sound of Islay between Islay and Jura. Its Gaelic name refers to that stretch of water, and the site was chosen with access to sea transport and a water supply from Loch nam Ban. Ownership changed early, passing to Norman Buchanan in 1854 and then to Bulloch Lade & Co in 1863.
