A classic independently bottled Caol Ila distilled in March 1993 and matured for 11 years in traditional hogshead casks. The relatively restrained wood treatment allows Caol Ila's unmistakable Islay character to remain at the forefront, with maritime smoke, citrus freshness, malt and coastal notes forming the backbone of the whisky.

Bottled by Ian Macleod for Chieftain's in April 2004 at 43% ABV, the release was drawn from casks 3454 and 3456, producing 1,260 bottles. Bottled un-chill-filtered and at natural colour, this is an appealing older-style Caol Ila for drinkers and collectors looking for a straightforward expression of the distillery's spirit.
