A fabulous Single Cask Bruichladdich from Gordon and Macphail. Matured for nearly three decades in a single refill Sherry cask, this has been bottled at cask strength and is an extremely limited release, with only 173 bottles being produced.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with copper-gold highlights and a subtle mahogany edge.

Nose

Autumnal fruit aromas rise, with ripe banana and creamy toffee apple. Sweet stewed fruit and a hint of orange peel give way to rich vanilla, inviting a warm, indulgent sweetness.

Palate

Fiery first notes of fresh chilli give way to soft nutmeg and baked apple; juicy sultana and poached pear rise with toasted oak, a rich, textured palate.

Finish

An elegantly drying finish, with lingering spice and soft tannins that hold on the palate, a refined echo of the Sherry-cask maturity and cask-strength complexity.

Bruichladdich
(brook-LADDIE) Bruichladdich distillery is the home of four different malts: the unpeated Bruichladdich, the heavily peated Port Charlotte, the even more peated (and rarely seen) Lochindaal and the super heavily peated Octomore. The distillery was built in 1881 by the Harvey Brothers and at the time it was viewed as a very modern establishment.  It is situated in The Rhinns, in the west of the island, overlooking Loch Indaal. It ran under a succession of different owners including Whyte and Mackay and Murray McDavid before being purchased by Remy Cointreau in 2012.
