Now owned by Diageo, Glen Elgin has long been closely associated with White Horse blended Scotch whisky, with much of its production used for blending rather than official single malt releases. The distillery was rebuilt in 1964 and expanded from two stills to six, with worm tubs still used for condensation, helping give Glen Elgin more weight and texture than many lighter Speyside malts. The best-known official bottling is Glen Elgin 12 Year Old, showing a fruity, malty style with honey, almonds, gentle spice and dried fruit.
