Bowmore Islay Single Malt Whisky 21 Year Old
Out of stock
A long delisted bottling of Bowmore 21 year old from around 2003 with the old style packaging and label.
Comments: Excellent older Bowmore which is as subtle as it is delicious. A nuanced interplay between sweet with peat, and coastal with mineral makes for a whisky which feels completely Islay, whilst at the same time never lets a single flavour profile dominate the experience. A wonderful composition that offers both complexity, and a look back at how good Bowmore’s whisky’s used to be.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery highlights and a warm, honey-gold glow.
Nose
Delicate, fruity and mineral with coastal brightness. Chalky sand and rocky wet slate cradle a restrained smoke—coal dust, tar and a whisper of fire in a gravel pit. Subtle sherry notes mingle with heathery honey, melon and light berries, while orange segments and peels lend lively zest. A touch of water lifts the orange toward tangerine, revealing a faint coastal brine and rock-pool nuance.
Palate
Sweet with ashy peat, the palate moves on mineral notes of granite and slate, mingled with chalky ash and bright citrus. Orange peels, tart lemon and grapefruit juice meet sour cherries and hedgerow berries for lively fruit. Cask influence whispers—old wood, ginger spice. Water deepens the oak and astringency, while revealing coffee beans and a hint of dark chocolate.
Finish
Medium-long, the finish coats the palate with bright tangy citrus and pronounced chalky minerality, a coastal echo that lingers with refined subtlety.
