Benrinnes is the dominant mountain which looms over Speyside from the south. Many distilleries draw their water from springs that are found all over Benrinnes, including its namesake distillery.

This 11 years old single malt whisky has been matured in an American oak cask before it was transferred to a French brand cask.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Opulent orchard fruits and vanilla rise in a silky perfume, enriched by a French brandy cask. Dried figs, apricot and sultanas mingle with figgy sweetness, kissed by warm spices—cinnamon, nutmeg—alongside toasted oak and almond notes that linger softly.

Palate

Silky and warming, the palate opens with vanilla and toffee, then reveals apricot, fig and raisin with orange zest and spice. Creamy caramel, almond nougat and oak mingle with brandy-cask richness, finishing long, velvety and gently sweet.

Benrinnes
(ben-RIN-is) Benrinnes was first established in 1826 by Peter MacKenzie at Whitehouse Farm near Aberlour, on the lower slopes of Ben Rinnes. The original distillery was destroyed by flooding in 1829, with a new site later developed nearby. After early ownership changes, David Edward took over in 1864, and the distillery was sold to John Dewar & Sons in 1922 before becoming part of DCL three years later. It is now owned by Diageo.
