Tasting Notes

Colour

Golden honey with warm amber depths and a sunlit, honey-tinged glow.

Nose

Soft honey and vanilla dominate, wrapped in warm malt and polished oak. Orchard pear and apple notes mingle with crème caramel, while sherry influence adds dried fig, raisin and a whisper of treacle. A creamy, elegant aroma with subtle spice and a touch of citrus zest.

Palate

Silky and well-balanced on the palate, with honeyed sweetness and vanilla cream. Orchard fruit sits beneath soft Balvenie oak, opening to a gentle spice. Sherry cask influence lends a raisin-tinged depth and a warm, lingering finish.

Finish

Silky, long finish of honeyed vanilla and citrus zest, carried by soft oak. A delicate kiss of sherry fruitiness threads through the warmth, with subtle spice lingering as the palate sighs for another sip.

(bal-VENN-ee) Founded in 1889 by William Grant, Balvenie is located next to the giant Glenfiddich distillery on the outskirts of Dufftown in Speyside. The distillery employs traditional whisky making methods, being one of the few to retain its original floor maltings and on site cooperage. The Balvenie single malt is typically rich, luxuriously smooth, and has a distinctive honeyed character.
