Balvenie Craftsman's Reserve No.1 The Cooper Whisky 15 Year Old · 1996 Vintage
Out of stock
This bottle was not available to purchase from Whisky retailers, but only available directly to members of the Balvenie club Warehouse 24. In producing Craftsman's Reserve No 1 The Cooper, The Balvenie Malt Master, David Stewart hand selected two European oak sherry casks both aged 15 years and married them together for the added complexity. The result draws an interesting comparison with The Balvenie Single Barrel aged 15 years in traditional american oak barrels. Supplied with the original poster.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich amber with copper-gold highlights and a touch of mahogany.
Nose
Opulent sherry aroma floods the glass, with dark plum and raisin, lacquered by toffee and fig, brightened by orange zest. Honeyed Balvenie malt weaves through, vanilla and spice from European oak—nutmeg, cinnamon—plus a whisper of almond. A saturated, warming nose suggesting aged leather and polished wood, inviting quiet contemplation.
Palate
Silky, full-bodied on the palate, it unfurls sherried richness with raisins, fig and date—paired with dark chocolate, orange zest and toasted almond. Spices—cinnamon and nutmeg—coax a warm, velvety oak tannin. The finish is long and luxurious, with cocoa, leather and caramelized fruit lingering.
Finish
Silky, long finish of sunset sherry sweetness, with ripe raisin and fig notes that linger into toasted almond, dark chocolate and candied orange zest, all wrapped in a warm oak-spiced glow that persists with refined polish.
