Situated in the most westerly point of mainland Britain, Ardnamurchan is a Scotch whisky distillery that embraces environmental conservation holistically, all the while producing a deeply traditional style of Scotch. This peated expression spent the entirety of its maturation in a single first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry cask, a powerful exhibition of the distillery’s capabilities.
Tasting Notes
Oolong tea and lit charcoal brick. Amongst the embers, damp mulch and thick Autumnal air with wisps of sea spray and blackberry jam. Overripe plums and black pepper precede cinnamon and dark chilli chocolate dipped into espresso. Leather and liquorice draw long into the finish.

Dark mahogany-amber with coppery glints and a wine-dark, glossy depth.
Nose
Smoked oolong tea and lit charcoal open the nose, with damp mulch and thick autumnal air; wisps of sea spray drift over blackberry jam, while overripe plums meet black pepper, cinnamon and dark chilli chocolate. Leather and liquorice linger with espresso notes.
Palate
On the palate this PX-finished, peat-forward whisky pours with velvety depth: overripe plum and blackberry jam slide into oolong tea and charcoal embers, while black pepper gives bite. Cinnamon and a hint of chilli chocolate weave through espresso notes, with leather and liquorice lingering into a long, refined finish.
Finish
Leather and liquorice draw long into the finish, where espresso and dark chocolate, with a whisper of cinnamon, linger beside a suave Pedro Ximénez sweetness. A contemplative tail that slowly fades.
