Official releases of Ardmore with an age statement are very rare indeed and for me one of the most under the radar distilleries in Scotland, a peated Speyside that has more in common with an Island single malt like Highland Park than the traditional Speyside style.
A stunning twenty year old offering aged in a combination of Ex-Bourbon and Ex-Islay casks for an extra depth of peat smoke from one of my favourite distilleries and great value for money too.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with warm copper-gold highlights
Nose
Earthy peat greets the nose from the start, with bright citrus of melon and lemon beneath. Chocolate digestives, honey, red apple and old oak weave a poised, inviting aroma.
Palate
Peppery peat develops more, not drying, but heating and softening the palate to reveal a robust vanilla that maintains among flares of flamed orange peel. Crushed summer berries and Scottish alfresco notes of fresh Scots pine and thick meadow grass join with aplomb.
Finish
Light and honeyed, the finish carries elegant peat that lingers, letting a welcome sweetness permeate, with a subtle sprig of rosemary.
