One of the few richly peated Highland malts and now becoming a very well respected single malt after many years of being best known for its use in The Teacher's blended Scotch.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with coppery highlights and mahogany undertones.

Nose

Delicious dry sherry aromas mingle with cinnamon and clove. Toffee-apple notes yield to mixed peel, slowly unfolding into subtle malty undertones.

Palate

Smooth and creamy, with ripe apricots and stewed plum wrapped in orange marmalade, then unfolding into bitter dark chocolate, framed by blackberries and blackcurrants, and a touch of sticky fig jam.

Finish

Long and lingering, with nuanced aniseed, candied citrus peel, and charred oak.

Ardmore
(ARD-moor) Ardmore was founded in 1898 by Adam Teacher to supply peated malt for Teacher’s blends, and it remains one of the more distinctive Highland distilleries for that reason. While peat is more commonly associated with Islay, Ardmore built its name on a smokier Highland style, combining earthy peat, gentle spice and a slightly dry, robust character. The distillery is based at Kennethmont and is now part of Suntory Global Spirits.
