Featured in The 1001 Whiskies you must try before you die book
"Tries to pull off the very difficult trick of marrying big heavily peated whisky with rich fruity winey notes you get from sherry, port or red. Fascinating."
Drawn from two ex-Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks this festival only bottling has had mixed reviews from regular Ardbeg drinkers with some either saying it's the best Whisky they've ever tasted and some saying pretty much the worst. We say this is an overly complicated dram that will probably take you half the bottle to understand and thus will probably become another cult Ardbeg once it's disappeared completely. Supplied with it's original distillery festival bag.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Dark amber with coppery highlights and mahogany edges, a rich, sherry-warmed ruby glow.
Nose
Ardbeg peat smoke sits atop a lush PX sherry–soaked fruit layer—ripe fig and prune, raisin and red apple, with cocoa and treacle. Caramelized orange rind and a whisper of espresso, while sea-salt brine and medicinal peat thread through.
Palate
Dense peat smoke coils with rich sherry-fruited notes: figs, raisins and red plums, woven with dark chocolate and a touch of orange zest. Spice hints of cinnamon and clove meet a maritime edge. Velvet mouthfeel, weighty yet refined, with layers of oak and PX sweetness. A long, warming finish lingers with peat, dried fruit and leather.
Finish
An exceptionally long, peaty finish that clings with smoky warmth and PX-sherry sweetness. Raisin, date and dark chocolate mingle with sea-salt and spice, leaving a woolly, ash-dusted finale that lingers as the peat slowly fades into memory.
