Ardbeg Ardcore 2022 Committee Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Out of stock
Ardbeg Distillery has had more ups & downs than a Pogoing Punk. So this year Ardbeg Day 2022 will celebrate its history with the release of Ardcore, The first Ardbeg made with black Malt.
Black Malt is one of the most roasted you can get, with kiln temperatures so high it needs to be tightly monitored. If it rises above 250 degrees celsius, the malt can turn to charcoal and catch fire! So that you can truly say it has been roasted to within an inch of its life.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, almost inky ebony with a faint burnished copper-amber edge that glints at the rim in light.
Nose
Charred peat, burnt sugar and espresso surge from the glass, with dark cocoa in tow. The black malt lends ashy, tarry depth, tempered by vanilla and dried red fruit from the sherry cask. A coastal iodine tang and sea-salted air cling to the aroma, Islay smoke in full blaze.
Palate
Charred, black-malted peat takes the lead, delivering a scorching smoke of burnt sugar, espresso and ash. Full-bodied and velvety, it spreads with warming 50.1% ABV, hinting at sea salt and dark chocolate. The finish is long and ashy, with medicinal peat and a coastal bite lingering.
Finish
Long, fiercely smoky finish with charcoal-blackened barley and bold peat. A briny sea-salt edge lingers as dark chocolate and dried fruit emerge briefly, then drift away on a warm, ash-tinged ember that fades to a resinous, lasting peat glow.
