Ardbeg Dun Bheagan Single Cask #700161 Whisky 12 Year Old · 2005 Vintage
In stock
Hello? An independent bottling of Ardbeg from Ian Macleod Distillers under the "Dun Bheagan" brand. A single cask release aged for 12 years in a refill hogshead. Distilled April 2005 & bottled 2018. As with any Ardbeg worth it's salt, this is Non chill filtered and natural colour. Rumour has it Ian Mcleod picked up some great casks in the mid 90's from Ardbeg so these single casks tend to be superb quality and an oppurtunity to taste Ardbeg from a time when distillation was pretty sporadic.
Bottled at 47% this is all bourbon cask with lots of tropical fruit on the nose, saltiness and classic oiliness, chocolate and sweet peat smoke. The palate is dry and punchy, feels a little more coastal than the OB 10 year old. Lots of smoke and lemon citrus on the palate with an earthiness underpinning it. Nice and dry on the finish, quite big and ashy.

Tasting Notes
Nose
Tropical fruit explodes on the nose, supported by saline coastal notes and Ardbeg’s characteristic oil. Chocolate hints mingle with sweet peat smoke, lending maritime depth and a resinous, savory edge.
