Fabulous Ardbeg from the Elements of Islay series. Produced from a 2000 distillate and aged for 12 years in American Oak before a further 7 years in a first fill Pedro Ximenez sherry Butt! Pure Islay decadance!.
Nearly two decades of aging have not tamed the classic smokiness of this Ardbeg. Expect a brawny dram where sweet, spicy and meaty flavours battle it out over open flames. Only 840 bottles produced.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Dense, sun-warmed amber, rippling with copper sheen and mahogany undertones.
Nose
Incense rising from a glowing log fire, with spiced fruitcake notes of raisins, star anise and saffron laid on a wooden board.
Palate
Intense leather, clove, burnt caramel and liquorice drive the palate, tempered by a smoky, spicy sweetness. Teriyaki glaze on barbecue ribs adds savory depth, while water reveals plum jam and dried blackcurrants, layering fruit with resinous spice and lingering ember smoke.
Finish
Long and bittersweet, like espresso served with biscotti and chunks of dark chocolate.
