Cask Strength Single Cask Distillery Bottling

The cask was originally an American oak hogshead seasoned with Oloroso sherry. In 2019, it was deemed that this cask was at risk of becoming over mature so the whisky was re-racked into refill Hogsheads. These refill casks have slowed the maturation process down nicely to produce an exquisite 5 year old bottling.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Caramelising brown sugar gives way to dried dates and raisins, with festive Christmas cake notes and creamy sweet vanilla, punctuated by salted caramel.

Palate

Nutty hints of hazel and walnut lead into a spicy, tongue coating mouthfeel and a caramel finish.

Annandale
(AN-an-dale) Annandale was founded in 1830 by George Donald near Annan in Dumfries and Galloway. Johnnie Walker & Sons bought the distillery in 1896, but closed it in 1921 as the company focused on developing its blended whisky business. The site later passed to the Robinson family, with parts of the old distillery used for Provost porridge oats and the remaining buildings falling into disrepair.
