The Founders Reserve range from the Annandale distillery is focused on the flavour diversity imparted by the cask. This particular dram was matured in Cask 523 - an ex-French Burgundy cask which was shaved, toasted and recharred. This produces a dram with notes of tobacco smoke, smoky bacon and hints of coconut, sweet almond cherry Bakewell, creamy vanilla and fresh peach.

Colour
Rich amber with copper-gold shimmer and a touch of mahogany, a warm, wine-kissed glow.
Nose
Tobacco smoke and smoky bacon open, widening to coconut, sweet almond and cherry Bakewell. Creamy vanilla lingers with fresh peach, all carried by the shaved, toasted and recharred French Burgundy cask influence.
Palate
On the palate, a bold, velvety entrance of tobacco smoke and smoky bacon gives way to creamy vanilla. Coconut and almond bring a soft nuttiness, while cherry Bakewell and fresh peach add bright fruit and sweetness. The 61% ABV lends warming depth, with a long, lightly oaked finish and persistent fruit-spice echoing through the aftertaste.
Finish
A long, velvety finish where tobacco smoke lingers with creamy vanilla, ripe peach and almond Bakewell, with a final whisper of coconut that softly fades.
