"Sweet dried fruits and chile chocolate from the sherry cask on the nose. Mature, complex tastes due to the depth of the mizunara. A distinctly spicy tannic texture. There's an excellent rum and raisin richness in the finish for a magnificently dark digestif."
A very highly regarded and multiple award winning 18 year old Japanese single malt which is now sadly pretty much unavailable in the marketplace

"For its strength, probably one of the best whiskies in the world. And one of the most brilliantly and sexily balanced too."

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with mahogany-tinged edges and a copper-gold glow.
Nose
Sweet dried fruits and chile chocolate ride from the glass, a sherry-cask bouquet rich with depth. Mizunara adds resinous spice and a warm, toasted undercurrent, yielding a mature, luxurious aroma that promises notable complexity.
Palate
On the palate, deep and opulent, with dark dried fruits—raisins and figs—woven with sherry sweetness. Mizunara lends spice, incense and subtle resin, while a velvety tannic grip adds structure. Cocoa, chocolate and treacle mingle with tobacco notes. The finish is long and luxurious, with rum-and-raisin richness lingering as a dark, dessert-like digestif.
Finish
Long, richly complex finish: rum and raisin sweetness blends with cocoa-spice, while a warm, tannic bite from sherry and mizunara lingers. A dark, elegant digestif with resinous wood and refined fruit characters.
