Undisclosed Orkney Berry Bros & Rudd - Single Cask #5051 Whisky 17 Year Old · 2006 Vintage
Out of stock
Orkney is an archipelago off the coast of the Scottish Highlands, home to some of the finest scenery, wildlife, Neolithic sites and whisky that Scotland has to offer. This exceptional Scotch whisky comes from one of its two distilleries.
Tasting Notes:
This hefty Orcadian gives a huge puff of turfy peat smoke initially, much more so than one expects from this distillery. Soon, further aromas of heather bells, leather and charcoal emerge.
The palate brings the Sherry wood influence, with rich dried fruits and soft spices balancing thick smoke, heather, honey and grilled lime. This dram has huge texture, which seems to integrate with its turfy character.
More sooty peat comes through on the finish, with waves of fruit and honey. A wonderful, chewy masterclass in Orcadian turf.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Burnished deep amber with coppery highlights and a warm honey-gold glow.
Nose
Turfy peat smoke erupts from the glass, dense and resinous, then opens to bright heather bells, supple leather and a whisper of charcoal. The nose is bold and refined, weaving earthy warmth with smoky elegance that heralds the dram’s Orcadian depth.
Palate
Thick torrefied smoke coats the tongue, then sherry-influenced fruit presses forward: ripe figs and dried berries weave with soft spices. Turfy peat lingers, with hints of heather and leather, while honeyed sweetness and grilled lime lift the richness. Dense, chewy texture binds the layers into a volcanic warmth that finishes with soot, further fruit, and lingering smoke-leather notes.
Finish
More sooty peat lingers into the finish, mingling with waves of dried fruit and honey. A chewy, textured echo of Orcadian turf.
