Bottled for the Spirit of Scotland range, this 2016 Tormore was matured in a refill bourbon barrel before being bottled at 9 years old for the UK market. Drawn from cask #76 and bottled at a natural strength of 63.7% ABV, it presents a youthful but characterful style, with the refill cask allowing the distillery’s bright Speyside spirit to shine.
That lighter cask influence works well here, keeping the whisky lively and spirit-driven rather than overly oaky. The result is a vibrant, high-strength bottling with orchard fruit, vanilla and fresh malt notes backed by plenty of intensity from the natural strength.
