Batch 3 of the Tomatin 36 year old is aged in a combination of traditional oak (34%) and 1st fill oloroso sherry butts(66%) for over 7 years and comes very well packaged in a hinged wood box and handy carry bag.

Tomatin Distillery has today (Wednesday 3rd May 2017) announced that its 36 Year Old Single Malt has scooped the top prize at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition, having been awarded ‘Best Scotch'. A judging panel of high-calibre industry experts awarded the oldest Single Malt in Tomatin’s core range with four awards in total. The 36 Year Old clinched the highly sought after title of ‘Double Gold’, 'Best Distillers’ Single Malt Scotch 20 years and older', 'Best Single Malt Scotch' and finally 'Best Scotch', beating off stiff competition from hundreds of brands and distillers around the world.

Colour
Deep amber with coppery highlights and a mahogany glow
Nose
Bright tropical bouquet of fresh pineapple, mango, passion fruit and guava, with ripe melon and peach melba. Subtle butterscotch and caramel toffee wafers weave through, while a hint of fresh mint and chocolate honeycomb adds a cool, confectionery lift—an inviting aromatic prelude to the whisky's depth.
Palate
Bold, spicy delivery of aromatic tropical fruit—pineapple, mango, passion fruit—seasoned with toasted vanilla, cool mint and a thread of chocolate. Sugared almonds and fizzy citrus accent a curd-like, lively mouthfeel.
Finish
Long, tropical finish with pineapple, mango and guava gliding into toasted spices and vanilla waffles. A dusting of cocoa powder coats the palate, finishing with a cooling hint of mint chocolate chip ice cream.
