Deep antique amber with copper-gold highlights and a tawny, mahogany-tinged glow.

Nose

Light apples and citrus rise on the aroma, mingled with malty notes, delicate florals, and hints of resinous spice, all wrapped in a rich peat cloak.

Palate

Peat smoke interlaces with crisp apples and bright citrus orange, while a thread of spice lifts the palate, delivering a vibrant, smoke-kissed fruitiness with a warm, lingering finish.

Finish

Peat smoke endures, mingling with crisp apple and citrus fruit to leave a warm, resinous afterglow that lingers gracefully on the palate.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
