The Macallan Rare Cask is matured from the very best casks in The Macallan warehouse. It consists of mainly first fill ex-Sherry casks to give an incredibly rich flavour. The casks Macallan have used for this Rare Cask release are handpicked from less than 1% of the casks maturing at The Macallan Distillery. It is bottled in luxuriously thick glass and packaged in a beautiful presentation case. This is the perfect gift for any whisky collector and drinker.
A new addition to Macallan's 1824 Masters Series, this whisky was crafted from casks hand-selected by Macallan's whisky maker.
Macallan Rare Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky showcases two of Macallan’s most fundamental pillars: natural color and sherry oak casks, according to Macallan Whisky Maker Robert Dalgarno. Dalgarno hand selected fewer than one percent of the casks maturing on the Macallan estate in order to craft this rare whisky.

Colour

Nose
Opulent sherry oak dominates the aroma, with dark fruit notes of plum, raisin and fig, lifted by orange zest and toffee. Cocoa, vanilla and a touch of spice weave through polished oak, delivering a velvety sweetness. Hints of refined spice and the Macallan’s natural colour promise a luxurious, layered palate to follow.
Palate
Opulent and velvety on the palate, with layers of ripe dark fruit—fig, raisin and plum—enhanced by rich sherry influence. Cocoa, orange zest and warming spice meld with polished oak, delivering a creamy, luxurious texture. The finish is long and refined, with almond fudge, toasty oak and a lingering kiss of spice.
Finish
A long, velvety finish where warm sherry oak unfolds into dried fruit, fig and toffee, with whispers of ginger and cinnamon. The sweetness drifts onward, leaving a soft dark‑chocolate echo and a final kiss of oak spice that lingers with luxurious warmth.
