Tasting Notes

Colour

Rich amber-gold with coppery shimmer and a mahogany edge.

Nose

Rich, resinous dried fruits rise with spiced ginger and cloves, supported by well-integrated wood. Subtle toffee sweetness blooms alongside bright citrus notes, while a delicate hint of peat smoke lingers, inviting a warm, vintage Macallan moment.

Palate

Rich, aged Macallan on the palate, with a bold sherry backbone, resinous spice and dried fruits, a touch of nuttiness, lingering toffee and warm, toasted wood.

Finish

Rich and spicy to the finish, with cloves and pepper lingering in a warming, sherry-kissed glow. A delicate veil of smoke threads through the finale, leaving a refined, lasting fade.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
