Gordon & MacPhail have been purveyors of fine goods across three centuries and, over many years, have built up and nurtured special relationships with local producers. Among these are several local whisky distilleries in the Speyside region from whom they purchase new-make spirit to be matured in their own oak casks.
However, there is only one distillery for which they reserve the title ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’.
Established in 1824 and situated overlooking the fishing beats on the River Spey, the Macallan Distillery produces a wonderfully complex spirit, which they then carefully mature in quality oak casks ordered specifically for the ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’ range.
Each bottling carries the vintage of distillation and the year of bottling, capturing an exceptionally mature single malt whisky.
These 20 year olds are much cheaper than the offical distillery 18 year olds, and don't forget that Gordon and Macphail used to be the official Macallan bottler.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery highlights and a touch of mahogany, a rich, sherry-kissed hue.
Nose
Opulent sherry aromas unfold with dried fruits—raisins, figs, and sultanas—laced with orange zest and treacle. Rich chocolate, toffee and vanilla mingle with cinnamon and nutmeg, while polished oak adds elegance and a whisper of leather.
Palate
Silky and medium-full, this Speymalt layers dried fig and raisin with orange zest, toffee and vanilla, all carried on a sherried oak backbone. Spices emerge—nutmeg, clove, cinnamon—adding warmth and depth, while chocolatey notes echo through the mid-palate. The finish is long and refined, with fruit and spice lingering, rounded by a gentle oak and a touch of cocoa.
Finish
An exceptionally long, warm finish with spiced oak embracing dried fruit and orange zest, carried by a gentle sherried sweetness. Cocoa and vanilla weave through the palate, fading to a refined, nutty marzipan-laced finale that lingers with quiet elegance.
