The fine oak series are aged in both Ex-American (Bourbon) and Ex-European (Sherry) oak casks.

A 75cl version (American release) first seen in 2004.

The 15 year old is triple cask matured (Ex-American Bourbon/Ex-American Sherry/Ex-European Sherry) oak casks are utilised.

A lighter and less dense Macallan, more vanilla and tropical fruit but still retains the elegance of classic Sherry cask aged Macallan.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with a honey-gold glow and a coppery shimmer.

Nose

Ripe banana, toffee and peach melba mingle with custard, spiced citrus and pineapple chunks, delivering a bright, creamy, tropical-tinged nose.

Palate

Toasted pineapple and vanilla creme anglais mingle with lemon curd and buttery oak, lightly kissed by aromatic spices to yield a creamy, elegant palate.

Finish

Creamy vanilla fudge mingles with vanilla oak before a lingering wave of butterscotch, toffee apple, banana and custard. A warm, dessert-like finish that softly coats the palate with subtle spice.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
