The English Chapter 16 Smokey PX Cask Single Malt Whisky 7 Year Old · 2010 Vintage
Out of stock
An unusual and highly experimental release from The English Whisky company. Peated to an impressive, 60PPM (that's higher than Ardbeg!) and matured in casks that contained sweet Pedro Ximenez Sherry. This unusual whisky is remarkably savoury in character with flavours and aromas of cured meats, bonfire smoke, dark chocolate, old wooden tea chests, and your favourite leather armchair. A completely bonkers one off!

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep burnished amber with coppery highlights and a mahogany edge—a rich, wine-dark glow.
Nose
Powerful peat shrouds the nose, lifted by sweet Pedro Ximenez. Cured-meat char and bonfire smoke mingle with dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, and resinous leather. Hints of antique wooden tea chests, cedar, and tobacco add dry, time-worn depth—savory, indulgent, and distinctly smoky.
Palate
On the palate, bold peat delivers savoury smoke with a cured-meat edge, tempered by Pedro Ximenez sweetness. Dark chocolate and raisiny fruit meet woody tea-chest and leather notes, adding depth and ballast. Full-bodied and velvety, the finish lingers with warming, richly smoky character.
Finish
Long, smoky finish with PX cask sweetness lingering beside a bold, medicinal peat. Cured meat, dark chocolate and leather notes persist, backed by toasted wood and a tobacco-soft fade that keeps you tasting the smoke long after the swallow.
