Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep, sun-warmed amber with luminous copper highlights and a touch of mahogany at the rim; a burnished gold center that glows with age.

Nose

A richly sherried bouquet with cinnamon and nutmeg, layered with beeswax polish, and hints of dried fruits and orange peel.

Palate

Smooth and sweet; dried tobacco, citrus and charred oak; stewed apple, walnut and spicy pepper.

Finish

Nutty, with mature oak and roasted coffee beans lingering on the palate.

The Cairn Distillery
The Cairn Distillery sits at Craggan, just outside Grantown-on-Spey, in the Cairngorms National Park. Opened by Gordon & MacPhail in 2022, it is the company’s second distillery after Benromach and draws on more than a century of whisky maturation and bottling experience. The building was designed to sit within its Highland setting, with features such as a turf roof and landscaping intended to blend into the surrounding environment.
