Tasting Notes

Colour

Rich amber with coppery shimmer and honey-gold edges—a sunlit, bronze-tinged hue that hints at sherry influence.

Nose

Vanilla leads into blueberry pie, while bright apple and gooseberries mingle with fresh lime. Summer berries bloom in the background, touched by cocoa powder and a kiss of oak, creating a generous, inviting nose that hints at sweetness with poised, whisky-rich depth.

Palate

Crisp apple and zesty citrus lead the palate, with raspberry notes and fig sweetness unfolding. Subtle aniseed spice lifts the mid-palate, while Brazil nut adds a warm, creamy nuttiness to the finish.

Finish

A vibrant citrus finale with a peppery kiss lingers on the palate, bright and mouth-watering, softly fading to warming spice that invites the next sip.

The Cairn Distillery
The Cairn Distillery sits at Craggan, just outside Grantown-on-Spey, in the Cairngorms National Park. Opened by Gordon & MacPhail in 2022, it is the company’s second distillery after Benromach and draws on more than a century of whisky maturation and bottling experience. The building was designed to sit within its Highland setting, with features such as a turf roof and landscaping intended to blend into the surrounding environment.
