Bottled in 2021 at 46% ABV, this 25-year-old Springbank is part of the distillery’s sought-after annual limited releases from Campbeltown.

The whisky matured for a quarter of a century in a combination of 70% sherry casks, 15% bourbon casks and 15% rum casks, a mix that adds depth and complexity to Springbank’s distinctive maritime spirit. The 2021 edition yielded 1,400 bottles worldwide.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Initially rhubarb, tropical fruits, golden syrup, shortbread. Then coconut shavings, barbecued meats and sugar cane.

Palate

Almonds, pecan pie, butterscotch. Peat starts building alongside cigar box and old library notes. Very typical of a mature Springbank; salty, earthy and briny.

Finish

Refined with a hint of peat smoke. Dunnage warehouse; earthy, bung cloth. Fruit notes develop with hints of molasses and sweet Prosciutto ham.

Springbank
(SPRING-bank) The 14th distillery to be built in the region of Campbeltown, Springbank is still owned by the Mitchell family, who also own the Glengyle distillery in the same region. Springbank produces three different styles of Single Malt; Hazelburn (triple distilled and non peaty) Longrow (twice distilled and heavy peat of 50-55ppm) and Springbank itself (two and a half times distilled and peated to 12-15ppm). Springbank is also one of the few distilleries that malt their own barley and bottle on site.
