Puni Alba Italian Malt Whisky 3 Year Old
Out of stock
Italian whisky made with malted barley, malted rye and malted wheat!
ALBA (which is Italian for 'dawn' and also Scottish Gaelic for 'Scotland') is aged for three years in Sicilian Marsala casks before a finishing period in casks that previously held peated whisky from Islay.
A youthfull vermouth or aperitif style offering from Italy's only whisky distillery that is housed in a stunning piece of modern architecture in the northern Tyrol region.
Batch 1 scored 95 points in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with honey-gold highlights and a coppery glow.
Nose
Grappa and black grape skins open the aroma with gristy grain and a whisper of smoke; toasted rye seeds, cool menthol, sugared almonds, gooseberry and singed juniper berries mingle in a bright, expressive nose.
Palate
Spicy rye and peppery barley lead the palate, with hints of anise and singed straw. Green fruit—smoked apple and pear—intertwine with clove and earthy menthol. Oily, full-bodied mouthfeel coats the tongue, delivering a warm, peppery finish that lingers.
Finish
Peppery pear drops fuse with smoked barley as red wine tannins and grape must linger, while spicy clove and menthol mingle with rye seeds toasted over peat smoke.
