A single cask Port Ellen bottled by Elixir Distillers for The Single Malts of Scotland range, this 27 year old was distilled in 1983 and bottled in 2010 from sherry cask number 02 at 46% ABV. Limited to 526 bottles, it comes from the now-closed Islay distillery.
Sherry cask maturation adds layers of dried fruit, spice and oak richness, complementing Port Ellen’s distinctive character where dry peat smoke, coastal salinity and citrus brightness remain at the core. Palate
Silky, full-bodied palate with a sherry-rich sweetness that coats the mouth—figs, raisins and orange zest woven with Port Ellen’s coastal peat. Spices bloom: cinnamon and clove, supported by velvety oak, vanilla and subtle resin. Briny sea-salt and citrus lift keep it lively, while a quiet smoke lingers into a long, balanced finish.
