Tasting Notes

Colour

Radiant amber-gold with coppery highlights, a warm, sun-kissed glow.

Nose

Sweet, sun-kissed stone fruits mingle with a delicate floral perfume, evolving with time to reveal a whisper of smoke. Initial peaches in syrup give way to dried apricots, honeyed melon and ripe pineapple, all wrapped in a softly fruity, subtly smoky bouquet.

Palate

Initial wisps of light peat smoke mingle with ripe fruit, then earthy leather and boot-polish notes emerge. The oak adds backbone with vanilla, chocolate and citrus, guiding waves of fruit into a balanced, lingering finish.

Finish

Marine mineral notes and earthy peat smoke linger on the palate, fading into a bright citrus tang that echoes the coast.

(Port SHAR-lot) Port Charlotte is the name Bruichladdich uses for its heavily peated Islay single malt, produced at Bruichladdich Distillery but named after the nearby silent Port Charlotte distillery, later known as Lochindaal, which first ran in 1829 and closed in 1929. Bruichladdich began distilling Port Charlotte spirit in 2001 after the distillery’s revival, and the first release, PC5, followed in 2006.
