Tasting Notes

Nose

Sweet, stoned fruit and a delicate floral perfume on the nose. Hints of smoke come with time. Initially peaches in syrup, dried apricots, honeyed melon and ripe pineapple.

Palate

Initially light peat smoke and ripe fruit, followed by earthy notes of leather and boot polish. The oak brings strength and sweet vanilla, chocolate and citrus to compliment the waves of fruit from the spirit.

Finish

The wonderful marine mineral-like quality and earthy peat smoke linger on the palate with a citrus tang.

(Port SHAR-lot) Port Charlotte is the name Bruichladdich uses for its heavily peated Islay single malt, produced at Bruichladdich Distillery but named after the nearby silent Port Charlotte distillery, later known as Lochindaal, which first ran in 1829 and closed in 1929. Bruichladdich began distilling Port Charlotte spirit in 2001 after the distillery’s revival, and the first release, PC5, followed in 2006.
