Pittyvaich (silent) Flora & Fauna Single Malt Scotch Whisky 12 Year Old
Out of stock
Flora and Fauna, nicknamed by the late whisky writer, Michael Jackson, was a themed series of distillery only single malt whisky releases. Each distillery was given a particular creature as its symbol, which is elegantly displayed on each bottle's beautiful label.
Pittyvaich was a Speyside distillery that operated from 1974 until 1993 and the distillery has now been demolished. This 12 year old is part of the much collected Flora and Fauna range.
A dry and savoury Speyside that was based in Dufftown and was one of the malts that went into Bell's blends.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Burnished gold with warm coppery highlights and a dusky amber core, hinting at sherry-cask depth.
Nose
Brown bread and heather honey mingle with sappy oak, old-fashioned toffee and dried fruit, while waxy orange, oaty flapjacks and a hint of leather add depth to the nose.
Palate
Savoury meat glaze and honey lead, with almonds and walnuts lending depth, malty bread and coffee grinds adding rustic bite, herbal toffee and treacle weaving through, then peppery oak furnishes a long, warming finish.
Finish
A savoury, meat jus finish coats the palate with treacle on maltloaf, then unfolds peppery cashews, leathery notes and anise, before finally settling into dry oak.
