Cask Strength Single Cask

This 14 year old Single Malt was bottled by Gleann Mor as a part of the Rare Find range. Distilled at the renowned Old Pulteney distillery, the spirit was laid down in a single bourbon cask in 2007. This patient maturation developed flavours of salted caramel and candied fruits.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Golden amber with honey-gold highlights and a sunlit copper glow.

Nose

Coastal salt and sea-air open to a creamy bourbon vanilla sweetness. Salted caramel lingers with candied fruits—pear, orange zest, and a hint of dried apricot—woven with gentle oak and spice. Maritime warmth suggests Old Pulteney’s coastal heritage bottled in a single bourbon cask.

Palate

Silky, full-bodied palate delivering salted caramel sweetness with roasted vanilla and toffee, then opening to candied fruits and orange zest. A whisper of sea-salt brine sits on the mid-palate, shaped by subtle oak spice and light white pepper. Rich yet balanced, it travels to a long finish of toffee, citrus peel, and a lingering maritime character.

Finish

Long, elegant finish of salted caramel and candied fruits, with vanilla and gentle oak notes. A coastal warmth lingers, softly echoing Old Pulteney's maritime soul, fading to a sweet, creamy afterglow.

Old Pulteney
(Old PULT-nee) Old Pulteney was founded in 1826 by James Henderson in Wick, during the height of the town’s herring boom, and for a time it was the most northerly distillery on mainland Scotland. Its history includes a long silent period after Wick voted to go dry under the Temperance Act: the distillery closed in 1930, prohibition in the town ended in 1947, and production eventually resumed in 1951. Later milestones include a major refurbishment in 1958, Inver House Distillers taking ownership in 1995, and the release of the now-iconic Old Pulteney 12 Year Old in 1997.
