Tasting Notes

Nose

Profound peat smoke blankets the nose, with coastal brine and a touch of medicinal iodine. Sherry-influenced sweetness emerges as dried fig and raisin mingle with caramel, vanilla and cocoa, while a bright sea-salt lift keeps it buoyant. Unfiltered richness promises depth and complexity to come.

Palate

Profoundly peaty on the palate, with sea-salt brine and mineral coastal notes riding a rich sherry backbone. Dried fruits—raisin, fig, date—meet dark chocolate, toffee and toasted almond, lifted by citrus zest and spice. Creamy, full-bodied and non chill filtered, it delivers a long, maritime finish of smoke, ash and coastal warmth.

Jura
(isle-o’-JEW-ra) Jura was founded in 1810 by Archibald Campbell, Laird of Jura, and was originally known as Small Isles Distillery. The island’s name is widely traced to Old Norse for “deer island”, with red deer still far outnumbering the human residents. The distillery was officially licensed in 1831, later passed to James Ferguson & Sons, and closed in 1901 before remaining silent for more than six decades.
