The latest batch of James E Pepper Rye Whiskey. The James E Pepper distillery is one of the earliest Kentucky distilleries and it's good to see bottlings available again. This is big, bold and malty Rye, with the Ale Cask finish adding an extra fruity layer.
Batch 3, is a release of just 356 bottles, significantly smaller than the previous 2 releases. This time bottled as a 4 year old, the whiskey has been finished in Ale casks, specifically a Brown Ale that was matured in rye whiskey casks and then those casks have been re-used to finish this whiskey.
