Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep golden amber with coppery mahogany hues.

Nose

Opulent, sherried nose with sun-dried figs, raisins and prunes, ribbons of orange zest and almond. Vanilla, cocoa and toffee sweeten the heart, while toasted oak lends structure. A whisper of cinnamon and clove threads through, hinting at a deeper, velvety spice.

Palate

Silky and refined, the palate unfolds with fig and raisin sweetness, toasted almond and dark chocolate caramel. Sherry-softened oak brings warmth, with hints of orange zest and gentle spice—cinnamon, clove—leading to a long, velvety finish.

Finish

Luxuriously long and warm, the finish threads together fig and almond with a gentle cocoa nuance, carried by a soft sherry sweetness. Oak spice lingers with velvet poise, tapering to a refined, lingering warmth.

The Brooks name was added later after Alfred Brooks bought the business, creating the name that would become closely linked with blended Scotch whisky. J&B Rare was created in the early 1930s and became the company’s best-known whisky.
