Tasting Notes

Colour

Golden amber with sunlit honey hues and a whisper of copper.

Nose

Warm, velvety aromas of dried fruits and orange zest mingle with caramelized toffee and vanilla. Subtle sherry notes lend raisin-soaked sweetness, toasted almond, and baking spice, while delicate oak and a whisper of chocolate round out a poised, old-bottling character.

Palate

Silky and honeyed on the palate, with orchard fruit and citrus peel eased by a subtle Sherry sweetness. Creamy vanilla and almond wrap around gentle spice, while toasted oak lends quiet depth. The finish is refined, with raisins, toffee and a warm, lingering glow.

Finish

A long, refined finish with sherry-cask warmth. Dried fruit, raisin and orange peel unfold into caramelized oak, dark chocolate and a subtle spice. A soft sweetness lingers, tapering to toasted almond and a whisper of coffee, leaving a polished, enduring warmth.

J&B stands for Justerini & Brooks, the London wine and spirits merchant founded in 1749 by Giacomo Justerini. The Brooks name was added later after Alfred Brooks bought the business, creating the name that would become closely linked with blended Scotch whisky. J&B Rare was created in the early 1930s and became the company’s best-known whisky. It was built with international markets in mind, especially the United States, where its lighter, smoother style helped it become one of the most recognisable Scotch whisky blends of the 20th century.
